教学设计
一 .设计思路
《普通高中英语课程标准》规定:英语课堂教学的设计和实施应使学生在学习知识的基础上,进一步明确学习目标,发展学生自主学习的能力和合作精神,注重提高学生英语获取信息,处理信息,分析问题和解决问题的能力。培养学生的语言知识,语言技能,情感态度,学习策略和文化意识等素养的基础上发展学生综合运用语言的能力。
本单元module 10 Unit 4 Learning efficiently的中心话题是 "语言的学习策略,改进和提高学生英语的听,说,读,写四项基本技能" 本次课程讲的是该单元的第一篇阅读 How to become a successful reader.内容涉及以下四个方面: 1)多读,多练习,熟能生巧; 2)享受阅读练习中的乐趣;
3)向优秀阅读者学会良好的阅读方法,即 -预测阅读内容; -积极主动的思考阅读;
-依据不同的阅读目的来确定阅读方式; -学会依据上下文猜测词意;
4)得出结论——用恰当的方法,通过大量的练习,我们就能提高 阅读能力。
在教学过程中,将在渗透阅读技巧的同时,利用本文为载体,进行阅读技巧的实践。
二. 教学目标
Ability aims: Remind Ss that success in language acquisition depends on competence in the four skills of reading, writing, listening and
speaking as well as a thorough knowledge of grammar, a wide vocabulary and pronounciation as near as possible to those of a native speakers.
Emotional aims: Tell Ss that everyone is an individual and that a
technique which is helpful for some students may not be as useful as for otehrs, choose those that best suit their learning style.
Learning strategies: enable Ss to learn how to read efficiently according to different reading tasks; set up group works to promote cooperative learning among students.
Teaching Methods: task-baksed learning, students-oriented activities, brain-storming.
Teaching aids: Computer, PPT, book, handout.
三. 教学重点与难点
Important points: 1.Know the four basic English learning skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writng. 2. Learn some useful reading skills from the text.
Difficult points: How to teach students to put the reading skills learnt in the text into use. 四.教学准备
通过对课文的仔细研读推敲,并参考网络优秀课件设计,查阅拜读了《中学英语教师阅读教学》系列丛书及《当代国外语言学与应用语言学文库》系列丛书,最后结合学生实际学情,精心挑选设计出环节紧凑,体现教学重难点,贴合学生学情的课件,组织合适的课堂教学用语,安排设计了以学生为主体的教学活动。 五. 教学过程
Precedure 1: Warming up & Lead in
T: Good afternoon, everyone, before we start the lesson, first let’s check the homework I assigned you yesterday, read and translate the following proverbs.
1.Practice makes perfect.
2.1% inspiration and 99% perspiration lead to success. 3.Constant effort brings success.
4.Learning how to learn is the core skill. 5.Nothing is impossible for a willing heart.
T: These proverbs tell us one thing, and that is success can be gained through hard work.
Q1: My question is do you think hard work alone will be ok to acheive success? (yes/ no)
Q2 :If no, then what else do you think are also are fundamental to success?
(Possible answers: practice, talent, effort, good skills, a strong will, etc.) T: There are many factors influcing our sucess, today we will mainly focus on -Learning efficiently.
T: As we all know, there are basicly four skills in learning English, and they are Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Listening. Besides, we need to have a good command of Grammar and Vocabulary. In the real life, we choose different English learning skills depending on our learning
purposes. For example, when I was at your age, my purpose for studying English was that I liked to watch English movies, so I practiced my listenig and speaking skills.
Q3: You must have your reasons too, so what are your purposes for studying English? What kind of skills do you need to acheive that purpose?
Ss’ Possible answers:
*to get a better job, (for instance, in the tourist industry, to achieve this purpose, you need to spend more time on improving Speaking and Lisening skills. )
*to learn English songs(listening&speaking skills are needed), *to travel abroad(speaking&listening skills), etc.
T: As students, our first task is to do well in the exams, where all the four skills are tested, so we must try to develop all the four skills to get better results in the exams.
T: Now, let’s look at the graph which shows how Guo Qiang allocates his after-school time on each aspect of English, and answer two questions: Q4: what can you tell about Guo Qiang’s study habits?
Ss’Possible answers: Guo Qiang spends most of his time on improving his reading ability, and he spends a little time on speaking. Q5:Do you agree that we should spend most of our time on reading? Why?
Ss: yes, reading takes up the biggest part in the exam.
Precedure 2: Pre-reading
T: please review the reading skills you have alread used when reading Chinese text.
T: (guide the students to have a brain storm to recall the reading skills adopted in different reading steps)
Step1: Before reading- preadiction-pay attention to title, sub-title, pictures, and graphs...
Step2: While reading- 1skimming- read for general idea- pay attention to the first&last paragraph or the first sentence of each paragraph, as well as the introduction & conclusion
While reading- 2scanning -read for details-read the questions first, and read selectively according to the Qs.
Step 3: Post reading- review&practice- take notes etc.
Q: Do you think these reading skills be employed in English reading?
Precedure 3: Reading Step 1-Prediction
Q:Look at the title, the pictures, and comprehending on page 34, then predict what might be the topic of the passage?
(One Possible answer: three skills about how to improve our reading skills.)
Step 2-Skimming
T: Let’s skim the passage to see whether you made a right or wrong prediction.
(* when you skim the passage , you need not to read the passage from the very beginning to the end, you just need to read the first or last sentence in each paragrah.)
Q: skim the passage, and try to write the titles and subtitles on page 34 in the correct place. (correct answers:
1. Practice makes perfect
2. Make your reading practice more enjoyable. 3. Learn the techniques of good readers
a. Before reading in detail, good readers preview the text.
b. A good reader reads actively not passively.
c. A good reader reads in different ways depending on the purpose for reading.

Step 3-Scanning
T: let’s scan the passage to find more detailed information.
(* when you scan the passage, don’t read it thoroughly. Read the
questions first, then bear the questions in mind and read selectively for specific information.)

Assess your reading:
Q:Work in groups and discuss the best way to read in the following circumstances. Write down the steps you would take in the correct order and present your solutions.
1.You don’t know how to set up your new computer. You decide to read the owner’s manual first.
2.You are in an exam. You must read a short text and then answer some questions about it . The text contains quite a few unfamiliar words.
3.You are writing an essay about Shakespeare’s life. You need to find out the names of his two children so you decide to look for the information on the Internet.
4.You are in a restaurant in New Zealand. The menu is in English and you don’t understand all the words.
Precedure 5 Homework Writing task:
Your friend Li Hua has trouble in English reading ,he wrote an email to you, asking for suggestions, please write back using the techniques you obtained from the reading text.
六. 教学反思
从开始选材,到学校安排录课,前前后后差不多历时一个星期左右,整个一星期,就连睡觉,我的脑子里也在思索构思。
选择这篇课文的目的其实显而易见,就是希望学生不仅是在模式性走流程的学习一篇阅读课文而已,更重要的是想通过整个文章,不管是brain-storming 也好, 还是讨论我们常用的中文阅读技巧也罢,总之,教学过程的每个环节的设置背后都是有着极强的意图,那就是希望渗透阅读技巧于无形。比如,warning up 里的谚语准备,就是阅读技巧里相关知识背景的体现, 图文结合部分猜大意就是prediction 环节的体现,又如最后留的写作作业,是复习总结的体现,等等等等。 为了更好的挖掘课文的利用价值,我仔细读了课文,以及课后的题目设置,同时大量参考了很多优秀课件,,也快速拜
读了《中学英语教师阅读教学》系列丛书中的问题设计一书,及《当代国外语言学与应用语言学文库》中的阅读教学部分,目的是想博采众长,努力呈现一节完整而有意义的课。
然而现实与理想总是有偏差的,虽然在准备的过程中,在上课之前,我自认为自己已经准备的比较充分, 脑海中框架比较清晰了,然而在录课过程中还是出现了一些不尽如人意的状况。比如: 1. 高估了学生的学情,在发出一些指令性语言时,学生会有迟疑,不能立刻领会,在这点上,我今后一定注意课堂语言的简洁,指令的清晰,语速的适当。

学生的回答有B,C的不同选择,关于这个问题我在课堂上的处理是自己引导学生在文中找出证据,但是课后反思时,我意识到如果在此处给学生留出时间让他们自己讨论找出证据,那么这个环节将更能体现学生自主学习以及合作探究性学习。
3. 由于上课时这是一个新接手不到两个星期的班级,对于班级学生我还不是很熟悉,疏忽了对小组分组情况的了解,所以当轮到小组讨论时,只好随机让学生主动担当小组领队,还好学生算是你比较积极配合。
4. 对于我们青年教师来说,任何一次成长都在于沿途的收获和反思的心理历程中。每一堂课不管成功或是失败,只要有成长,勇于挑战和改变,愿意去丢脸,愿意去尝试,就够了。我知道以后的路还远,自身还有这太多太多的欠缺,我会继续向更多优秀的教师学习,教师的成长之路永远都不会停止。
