Lead students to the topic by showing the latest news about donation and displaying some famous philanthropists abroad and at home. Arouse students’ thinking about “What can we help others in our daily life?” and “What if we want to help those who live in other countries?”

T: Good afternoon, class 6. S: Good afternoon, Zoe.

He and his wife established their foundation in 2008 and donated $58 billion to philanthropic foundation. Amazing, right? Moreover, Zuckerberg, who was entitled “the second Gates”, started the foundation at the birth of their first child, basically on education and medical service, in hope of promoting human potential and equality. Additionally, the respected philanthropist Buffet, is famous for his power lunch. Do you want to have lunch with him? If you do, you need to pay for it by donating money to a foundation to help the poor and homeless in San Francisco. These distinguished philanthropists are all Americans. How about Chinese? Actually there are great philanthropists in our country, such as Ma Yun. What is he famous for? Alibaba? Yes, it’s true. Taobao? Definitely. But they are only a part of his career. He’s also an honored philanthropist, such as the ant forest. Have you played it on Alipay before? It’s an action aimed at reducing carbon emission. By using Alipay, you can help build a forest in real life, like picture1. Can you imagine what the desert becomes now? Look at picture 2. So a small action can make a difference. After talking about these influential enterprisers, let me show you another one. Who are they? T: Yes, it’s TF boys. Are any one of you their fans? Who do you like the best? Actually, they’re not merely young idols for singing, but also pioneers in good work. Why do I say so? Look at the news. They’ve ranked number one in China charity celebrity list in 2017. Each of them has established their own foundations. Can you guess which foundation belong to Wang Yuan?
T: So why so are so many philanthropists devoting to charity work? Because there are many needy people on the earth needing us. How can we help them?

2.1 Fast reading 快速阅读,掌握结构
T: Open the textbook and turn to page 34. Look at the page, and answer the questions. Where is the page from? How many parts is the page divided into? What are they? Are all the gifts cost the same? In what order are they listed?
2.2 Scanning and guessing 猜测、略读,了解重要信息
T: Excellent! Now please look at the gift catalogue. Do they cost the same? No, they are listed from the cheapest to the dearest. Group 1 and 2 are responsible for gift A to gift J; Group 3 and 4 are from gift K to U.
