Teaching procedures: Step1 Lead-in
Ask students: If you go to an island with three things, what will you take? Then let them discuss about it.
Learn the new words: ship, tool, gun, land and so on. Step 2 Presentation
Enjoy a video and see how the man lived alone on an island Introduce the video Robinson Crusoe and the background of it. Step 3 Reading (Skim)
Task 1 the passage and answer the following questions. Introduce
the reading strategy: skim (read quickly to find the main idea) 1. What’s the main idea of the passage? 2. Match the main idea of each paragraph

B. saved himself C. killed a man D. saved a man Step 4 Reading ( Scan)
1. Task 2 Read paragraph1 and complete the chart.
Introduce the reading strategy: scan (read quickly to find specific information) Then ask students to correct the sentences according to the paragraph1. Ask: After reading para1, what do you think of Robinson?
2. Task 3 Read paragraph2
What other dangerous things did Robinson meet? Read paragraph 2 and fill in the blanks: Correct the sentences.
Step5 Retell the story
Task 4 Ask students to retell the story in a group of six. After that, tell students the ending of this story. Robinson lived on the island for 28 years in all. They were saved by a ship passing by.
We should be brave and strong-willed when we face difficulties and dangers. Remember:
God helps those who help themselves.
Step6 Summary
In this period, we read a short passage based on Robinson Crusoe and developed our reading skill.
Step7 Homework
1. Review the new words and expressions. 2. Retell the story of Robinson Crusoe.
