Analysis of teaching material: The teaching material is about the amazing things in the world. Students have known a lot about amazing things around the world through the lessons we learned before. However, this lesson will ask students to learn more amazing things about animals and amazing people in the world through listening. At the same time, students are expected to learn how to do reasonable reacts when they meet some amazing things.
Analysis of students: Students in Grade 7 have certain basic English knowledge. They also know some certain listening skills. So it’s not difficult for them to understand the general idea of the listening materials and know how to make a report. What’s more, students in Grade7 like to be challenged so as to keep motivated and maintain interest in class.

4. know ordinary people can also do amazing things if they practice hard. 5. get the idea of “practice makes amazing.”.

Step 1 Lead-in

【Purpose】
Master these amazing things of animals and strengthen the phrases we learned
from listening
Master some listening skills, such as: guessing before listening; guessing the
answer from the context; write the key words first during the listening.
Learn to use the sentence patterns like “I was surprised to know that...” when
they want to describe the amazing things.
Know how to express amazing things clearly and fluently and learn to do
reasonable reacts when meeting amazing things.
Step 4:Pair work
Talk about amazing animals with your partner.
A: Which animal do you think is amazing? B: … is amazing. I am surprised to know that… What about you? A: I think …is amazing... It’s interesting/amazing that….
T: Can we judge which animal is the best? S: No. They are all amazing.

Practice these sentence patterns in the dialogue again and improve their oral English.

本课的内容是让学生们掌握世界上的有许多令人惊讶的人和动物,并让学生能对这些惊讶的事情做出合理的反应。本课的设计我主要分为两个部分:令人感到惊奇的动物和令人感到惊奇的人。在文章的导入上,我以我的好朋友Suzy的故事进行导入并且贯穿整节课。本课的明线为:Suzy在开始的时候害怕动物,但是在看了一场动物园的表演后不再害怕动物了而是乐于学习动物世界当中一些令人感到惊奇的事情。之后她又了解到人们也可以做许多惊奇的事,并且我们身边的人也可以做一些惊奇的事。最后她了解了这些事情之后准备举办一场才艺表演对整节课的内容加以总结。本课的暗线就是通过不断的深入思考,让学生们明白动物身上有许多优秀的品质。我们普通人也可以做许多了不起的事,只要不断的坚持和努力。从而对本节课的主旨 Practice makes perfect 进行点题。本课加强听力技巧的练习,在处理Speak up 时采取的是中考的听力模式,并且添加了两个额外的听力练习。一个是看视频回答问题。一个是录制了自己学校老师和学生可以做到的一些令人感到惊奇的事情进行练习。形式新颖,操练丰富,容易引起学生的学习兴趣。
