I.Teaching objectives: Knowledge objectives:
By the end of this lesson, students will have

Introduce the topic.
Explain what is jigsaw.
Revise the topic
Get to know about jigsaw and prepare to use it.
Students get ready for the lesson both on topic and ability. Step 2 Warmer
Show some individual words.
Ask students to try different ways to memorize them in the given time.
Try to remember and write down the words in proper ways.
Learn to put the words into sentences.
Help Ss be aware of two things: with context,
immediate-memory can be put into short-term; teamwork counts.
Step 3 Speaking and Listening
Play a video about Dolly the sheep for topic information.
Ask Ss to work in pairs. One reads the passage for his partner to listen for key information.
Correct the answer.
Enjoy the video, focusing on topic words and task.
Pair work, read or listen to different passages.
Think of the topic of the speaking and listening material.
Gather more information for future use.
Practice listening through peers.
Learn to conclude the topic from materials. Step 4 Jigsaw listening
Introduce the listening material.
Set task for first
listening : Class work for standpoint and general information
Class work ,listen to tick the information heard, judging standpoint at the same time.
Develop Ss listening ability for key words, standpoint and detailed information.

Set tasks for
second listening: group work for specific information. (Divide the groups into two halves. Ask each only focus on one person’s opinion while listening)
Group work,
listen as requested, filling in the gaps in
each task.
With group
members, discuss to check answers and do supplement.
Arouse Ss’ awareness of two things:
focusing differently depending on the tasks; teamwork can make listening
easier.
Step 5 Jigsaw Speaking
Reform the group by asking Bs and Cs in Rachel’s group exchange seats with those in Xiao Qing’s group.
Ask new groups to exchange ideas in the form of a debate.
Show some useful expressions as aid.
Exchange two of the group members to form a new group.
Make a dialogue to describe the information they each got.
Make a presentation.
Practice functional speech.
Show how
memory works during listening: immediate—short --long, from words, sentences, passages to situation.
Stress the importance of context and cooperation.
Step 6 Writing
Show Ss a model of a net post about one opinion.
Explain to the Ss demands in writing task.
Monitor and give a hand while Ss are designing their net
Be clear about the T’s instruction.
Group work, design their net post and each member write down their own opinions .
In groups, present
Put what Ss have learned into
practical use.
