Analysis of the teaching material
The topic of this lesson is Reading Aloud. The reading material is from an APP Gaofenshuo, which is closely related to Oxford English textbooks and Senior High School Entrance Examination in Guangzhou that our students will take. The speaking part is about movie dubbing, which can help students strengthen their speaking skills in an interesting way. This lesson is aimed to get the students ready for the upcoming Listening and Speaking Final Exam in Haizhu District.
Analysis of the students
There are 41 students in Class 4, Grade 8. Half of them are good at English learning, but a small number of them are quite weak in listening and speaking. They have been using the APP Gaofenshuo for nearly two weeks. Students are not perfectly familiar with speaking sub-skills. However, they are curious, passionate and eager to know more about reading aloud and movie dubbing.

(1) Use speaking sub-skills like pronunciation, stress, word linking and intonation to read correctly; (2) Use proper intonation, pause and change in stress to convey different emotions and attitudes. 3. Thinking quality
(1) Cultivate students’ critical thinking through summarizing speaking sub-skills;
(2) Arouse students’ interest and build their creative thinking through emotional reading and fun dubbing. 4. Cultural awareness
Stimulate students’ interest in reading and guide them to know more about movie dubbing.

Task 1 First Listening (4 mins) To train students’ ability of finding speaking features from the passage with the help of speaking sub-skills. 1. Guide students to finish Task 1. 2. Lead students to use the speaking sub-skills to prepare for Reading Aloud.

3. Lead students to watch and imitate. 4. Organize students to have a group movie dubbing about the film The Secret Life of Pets.
5. Invite some groups to present their dubbing in the front.
