Teaching Aims:
1. To learn the vocabulary and sentence structures.

2. To get information from the reading material about some famous places of London.
3. To learn more expressions of giving directions. 4. To learn the culture of London. Important and difficult points: 1. To improve students’ reading ability.
2. To give brief directions of the tour of London to their partner. Teaching Methods: 1. Task-based Approach; 2. Communicative Approach. Teaching Aids: 1. Multi-media.
2. Handouts of the routes of the tour of London.
Teaching Procedures: Step 1. Warming-up
1. Free talk: ask students to answer the questions and arouse students’ interest of the tour of London.
(1) What are the beautiful places for a tour of Nanning? (2) Do you know any beautiful places for a tour of London? 2. Show the title of this lesson.
Step 2. Pre-reading
1. Watch a video and answer the question.
What are the places for sightseeing in London?
2. Show some pictures and learn the new words in a sentence.
3. Read the words together and reinforce students’ memory of the new words.
Step 3. While-reading 1. Fast reading.

(1) Get students to read the passage in 30 seconds and choose the best answer. Who may the writer be?
A. A tourist. B. A guide. C. A painter. D. A policeman. (2) Get students to tell the reason why they choose this answer. 2. Careful reading.
(1) Task 1: Decide true or false (T/F) and correct the wrong sentence.
Get students to read the passage carefully in 4 minutes and finish Task 1. Ask students to underline the answers in the passage while reading.
(2) Then let students to give their answer and tell where they can find the answer in the passage.
(3) Task 2: Listen and repeat. Then label the places on the map. (P35.) (4) Ask students to tell the places and tell how they know.
3. Read together. Ask students to read correctly, loudly, fluently and beautifully.
Step 4. Post-reading
1. Ask students to finish the routes on the handout. 2. Work in pairs to retell the routes.
Student A retells route A of the tour of London. Student B retells route B.
3. Ask some students to retell the routes and encourage students to express themselves.
Step 5. Summary
Summarize the key points in this lesson.
Step 6. Homework
Finish some exercises.
