Pre-task preparation
·Warm-up: What are the topics of this unit?
·To recall what students have learn in the previous lesson. ·Let’s recall some useful expressions about crimes and
detectives.
·Say out more vocabulary items associated with crime and detection.
·To review the words. ·To lay the foundation for the listening task. ·Have a look at the work we’ve done on www.zhishinet.com
·To have a check on previous work and arose more concentration on the following task.
While-task procedure
·Watch a clip of video on the website www.zhishinet.com and listen for the gist. 1. Where is it?
2. Who are the speakers? 3. What has happened?
4. Why does the woman come here? 5.What information is she providing?
·To create a general idea of the whole
conversation while the first listening.
·Have a further listening and then decide the following sentences T/F:
1. The woman witnessed the robbery and reported it to police at the scene.
2. She is so afraid that she can’t remember anything about this event.
3. Detective Smith knows about the case just by asking questions.
4. There were three criminals in this robbery.
5. The eyewitness can remember every robber’s look very clearly.
6. The detective thinks this case is tough to deal with. ·To capture more specific information about a criminal event while listening. ·Listen and fill in the missing words or phrases.
