Step1 Warm up(5 minutes)
1.Greet the students by talking about the May Day holiday.
T:Our May Day holiday is over,it’s so nice to see you again.Did you
have a good time during your holiday?
S:Yes.
T:Well,I will have an interview.What did you do ? S:I.....
T:I’m glad you enjoy yourselves.And I went to a famous place ,too.Do
you want to know where I went?
S:Yes.
2.Play a guessing game. Let students ask questions about the travelling and guess what the place is. And the winner will get the picture of Tian’anmen Square,which is also the main topic of this lesson. Step2 Pre-reading
1.Lead in the new lesson (2 minutes) Lead –in question:
T: There were so many people exploring Tian’anmen Square.So you can imagine when the three boys,Michael ,Kangkang and Darren,go to visit

there,what will happen?Please look at the pictures, guess the right order and what the passage is about.
S: 1234.I think there were too many people on the square. One boy couldn’t find the other two ....……
T: But we don’t know yet.So turn to Page 39 and let’s read the passage..... Step 3 While reading(15minutes)
1. Fast reading: Read 1a quickly ,following the requirements:
①Get the main idea and then number the pictures
②Underline the sentences in which you find the information.
2. Listen to the text to check the order . At the same time, the students should pay attention to the pronunciation.
3.Detail reading:Read 1a again ,following the requirements:
①Read the passage carefully and loudly,pay attention to the details ,and then finish 1c.
②Find the useful expressions as many as you can.
While students are reading, the teacher will give some necessary instruction.After the second reading,the teacher will check 1c and retell the passage together with students . Step 4 Group work(8 minutes)
The teacher divides Students into groups and let students retell the story in their own words.For example:One day,Michael ,Kangkang and Darren went to visit Tian`anmen Square by bike......

Students should work with their group members and retell the story according to the given information .And then the teacher will choose two groups to present their work.
Step5 Grammar part(5 minutes)
Learn about the adverbial clauses of time and conjunctions.And do some exercise to consolidate . Step 6 Sum-up (3minutes)
Let students talk about what they have learned today. Show the key words and grammar on the screen. Step7 Assign the homework
1. Review the key words and useful expressions in Section C.
2. Try to write more sentences with the conjunctions “before, after, when, while, as soon as, not … until”.
3. Preview Section D.
