教学目标及教学重点、难点
Teaching Objectives:
At the end of the class, students will be able to:
1. get the structure of the passage and main idea of each paragraph;
2. understand and summarize the characteristics and inspiration
sources of three representative buildings: Art Science Museum, the
East gate centre and The algae house;
3. get inspiration and encouragement from the examples and deeply
think about the association and relationship between human and
nature, and live in harmony with nature.
Key points:
1. get the structure of the passage and main idea of each paragraph;
2. understand and summarize the characteristics and inspiration
sources of three representative buildings: Art Science Museum, the
East gate centre and The algae house;

教学过程
Step 1 Warm up
1.Watch a video about nature and answer the question:

What’s your feeling?
设置意图: To arouse students’ interests by watching the video.
2. Observe the pictures and answer the questions:
What is shown in the pictures?
How much do you know about them?
Teacher asks the following question to motivate Ss to have a further
thinking.
How could you associate them with architecture ?
Help students to answer the questions by guiding them to think about
the possible solutions.
Teacher share other examples of architecture inspired by nature.
So how to associate them with architecture ?
Ss work together to have their ideas.

nature.
Step 2 Reading for main idea
Now read the passage and check their ideas.
Then try to draw a mind-map to show the structure of the whole text
and figure out the genre of the passage.

Step 5 Reflection & Consolidation
1.Try to predict future of nature in architecture.
设置意图: Ss are expected to develop their thinking ability and
realize that for the future architecture, it will perfectly
integrate green energy in various shapes and forms.
2.Watch a relevant video to see nature with new eyes. (Nature
and technology stand hand in hand in the future, especially
biomimicry )
设置意图: To improve students' understanding of the future
coexistence of nature and human by watching a relevant video.
Step 6 Homework
1.Write a short passage about your future architecture inspired by
nature.

(①Focus on creativity or practicality or function;
②If necessary,relevant information can be googled online.)
2. Do an investigation about the types of biomimicry in the nature.
(Optional)
