How to think in English way and express their ideas in English. Teaching methods 教学方法 Task-based learning and discussion. Teaching aids 教学用具 multimedia, chalk, a blackboard. Teaching procedures 教学过程 Step 1. Greeting and Lead-in (1min)
I’ll show some funny pictures to arouse the students’ interest and make them

concentrate on the following task easily and joyfully. T:Isn’t funny? (When I show the first picture)
T:Do you think the boy has some good habits of reading ? S: No.
T: As a result, he becomes short-sighted and has to wear glasses. Step2. Put the following sentences in the right order.
This step is to make students familiar with this structure of a similar type of text and some linking words, which can help them to prepare for the writing later.
( 1 ) a. It is important for everyone to keep good eyesight. However,The poor sight of the students has become a serious problem we have to face today.
( 6 ) b. Firstly, they shouldn’t keep their eyes working long and should have a rest after having studied an hour or so.
( 3 ) c. Among them the most responsible is that students keep their eyes working for a long time on a cellphone, a computer or a book, which does great harm to their eyesight.
( 8 ) d. What’s more, doing eye exercise every day can help to keep good eyesight.
( 4 ) e. Besides,bad habits are to blame. Some students may read in the sun or in a poor light;sometimes they like reading in bed or in a moving bus,which will affect their eyesight greatly.
( 2 ) f. Actually, there’re some reasons for this problem.
( 7 ) g. Secondly,they should pay attention to the habits of using their eyes and give up the bad ones.
( 9) h. In my opinion, only if they obey the rules above, can they prevent their eyesight from becoming short-sighted.
( 5 ) i. So what can be done to protect their eyesight?
Activity 1 Ss look through the sentences and put them in the right order. Then I’ll collect answers from them. (3mins)

T: Please look at your study plan,part two. Here is a passage about short sight.There are some sentences. Please read them quickly and put them in the right order. T: (3 mins later) Time is up. Who’d like to share your answer? Ok, this boy/ girl.Come here and write down your answer here. (先在黑板上按顺序把几个字母写上,然后学生在字母前写上数字)
When the student gives the answer ,I’ll ask other Ss “Do you agree with him/her? Any other answers?” Then I’ll ask another student to give his/ her answer.

T: Now I want you to read the whole passage again in the right order and divide it into three parts. Now discuss in groups in 2 minutes.
The passage can be divided into 3parts.(此处要在黑板上板书,并且要向学生提供problem, reason, solution, opinion这几个词,这样能适当降低一点难度) Part 1 1(the problem) Part 2 2--8 (reasons and solutions) Part 3 9 (opinion)
Activity 3 Read aloud the whole passage together. Give a mark to it and discuss the features of a good composition. (6mins)
T: Suppose you are a teacher, and this is a composition written by a student, how many points will you give it? There are three choices for you. (The full mark is 25). Which one will you choose?

A. 11-14 B. 15-19 C. 20-23
T: You choose C. 20-23. It’s a high mark.That means you think it’s a good composition,right? So can you tell me the features of a good composition? Now discuss in groups in 2 mins.
( Time is up) Who’d like to share the results of your discussion? Any different ones? Now I’ll show them on the ppt. Please remember them,Ok?

T:Good! Today you’re going to write a composition on this topic. Now please look at the writing text in part3 in your study plan . Now read it carefully and underline the points you’ll write. You can refer to the structure we just mentioned. (1min)

Activity 2 Brainstorm. Students work in groups and think out the reasons why some teenagers are getting fat and the solutions to the problem. (7mins)
T: Now let’s do a game--brainstorm.That is, if you give me a reason or solution, I’ll give your group a point. Before this game, you work in groups and think out the reasons for this problem and solutions to it. Write down your answers here. Three mins to do it.After your discussion, I’ll collect their answers.(When they give the answers, I’ll write down them on the blackboard and give their group a point.)
